The Wieliczka Salt Mine is UNESCO-listed and a must-see attraction while visiting Krakow. The enormous and elaborately decorated mine has been producing salt for centuries. Descend deep underground by stairs, then take a convenient elevator back up to the top after the tour. You’ll be surprised by what you’ll find deep under the surface of the earth—the mine has its own chapel and chandeliers, among other treasures.

Wieliczka Salt Mine near Krakow remembers the times of the Middle Ages. It one of the world’s oldest salt mine in the world. This is the only mining facility in the world functioning continuously since the Middle Ages to the present, allowing the evolution of mining technology in different historical periods. Wieliczka Salt Mine is about 260 km of excavation on 9 levels, the first of which – the level of Bono – goes to a depth of 64 meters, while the latter lies 327 meters below the surface. Total length of sidewalks, connecting about 3000 excavation (sidewalks, ramps, service chambers, lakes, wells, shafts), exceeds 300 km. The tourist route is 2,5 km, consists of 20 chambers located at depths from 64 to 135 meters.
Wieliczka Salt Mine is located around 15 kilometres from the city center of Krakow (about 30 min drive). The best option to get to Salt Mine is to book a door-to-door tour with us. Driver will pick you up in the morning from your accommodation or if you wish there is a option to go there afternoon.
